Oh dear, my apologies to Mark Perrott, whose name I have apparently misspelled. I hope I am not exactly a pedant as you say, Mark, but strive to be accurate in print, as I do in my ritual (no reading allowed inmy Lodge ;) ). I obviously didn't take enough notice of the spelling of your name, but concentrated on your posts, merely mentioning to Wolfy that you were an example of someone who, by your own admission, had become dissatisfied in UGLE, and so had left, and were at present unattached to any other GL.

Don't worry about it Boy, I was just having a laugh with you, I know how precise you like to be, being a technical author, as you were. And don't mind the extra commas I like to add to my writing. It's an odd habit I got into years ago. It allows the mouth breathers who read out loud a chance to take a extra breath.;)

A little story to make you laugh. I was a member of a the local Masonic Circle for a while, and was asked in my "year" to present a full esoteric explanation of the Ist degree mode of preparation, with the aid of a Lodge member that I had Initiated. The organiser of the event called me Martin, Maurice, Melvin you name it, I was called it. Afterwards, he presented me with a book, with a dated inscription on the inside cover. "To Mike Perrott......" (My uncle Michael would be very pleased to receive it. If he was a Mason). But that same chap was Treasurer of the RAMMM Lodge I was a member of, and all correspondence regarding dues had my proper name on it, hand written. Tax Inspectors don't retire, they just draw a line.;)

That was my understanding, but if I have it wrong, I'm sure you will correct me. Nor did I "single you out" by this mention - if anyone else has done the same, and remained as a frequent correspondent, I will point him out to Wolfy too - he is slightly concerned at thenegative comments frequently displayed on tfm, and hence started this thread. But that's youth for you - when he's done as many nautical miles in hostile waters as he no doubt will in time, Wolfy may become as relaxed as an old git like me on the subject. :smooooth:

Oh, I think perhaps Wolfy was getting a little land locked, desperate for the open sea and the distant horizon. It was all a storm in a firing glass really.

Don't be too dismayed by the loss of a "T" Mark, it may suit you (to a "T"). I have, all my life, been bedevilled by a surname which people I meet on holiday can spell, but has constantly confounded the English-speaking community. I was even told that one of my uncles spelled it with a single "L" instead of a double: now here is a tip for you, Mark, which you touched on over your comment about a clearance certificate - I recently found out that my uncle (who I never met) had gone bankrupt, and was able to start another small business by leaving one letter out of his name.

Not exactly Masonic behaviour, but then he wasn't - I am, I believe, the first in the family, and I am enjoying it!

The final "t" is quite important, ectchewelly. Single "t", its soft .. perrow. Two "t"'s and its hard, with full emphasis on the last syllabub. But who am I to make a dessert out of a french dressing?

You would think with my initials, I would be on expenses.:P

I agree the extra 'T' is important and getting your christian name right. We have a Mike Perot here who is a racing car driver and a very successful mortgage broker.

You would not like Waiouru right now Mark, the maximum temperature the other day was 2C after an overnight of minus 7C. The roads were very icy, the Desert Road was closed overnight several times and a few days ago, a big rig slid on the ice, overturned and took out a power pole supplying electricity to the whole township. Waiouru was completely without power for about 11 hours on one of the coldest days they'd had. Although the fridges and freezers weren't running, it didn't matter, it was too cold for anything to thaw out. They couldn't pump petrol either

I'm glad Mark Adams is coming to the Black Friar; he is the one who did all the hard work researching a venue for last year's do.  However, as so many are promising to come, perhaps you could bring a few "boxes" for us to sit on, Mark? :w00t:

Hi Roy

Can't fit them on the train, I'm afraid-so I shall be coming empty handed.

I'm sure if you ever found your way up to Peterborough, I could sort you out, however.:D

Looking forward to a couple of TT Landlord, if they still do it at The Blackfriars

S and F

Mark

There is a successful rally driver over here called Mark Perrott. I had never head of him till I tried to get car insurance with a particular company.

I always though the Desert Road was one of lifes' great irony's. It is impassable for best part of 3 months every year due to ice and snow. ;) It's also known as the a*** end of the world, with the Army camp 3 miles up it. And even stranger, there is a Naval Base in the middle of the Army camp. It's at least 100? miles to the nearest coast in any direction.

Sparker, I have just remembered where I know you from. Moons ago I suggested that Prov Officers were just bling wearing liggers etc etc etc. Point is, many pages later in that discussion, you took that comment personally and asked me to retract. Sorry for that, because I was totally unaware of you and therefore did not include you in you in my broad stroke analysis.

Water, bridges, under all spring to mind.

Take a rope mate, you appear to be drowning in a fast current of colloquialisms.:D
