Is this happening after you logout line? Shut off the computer, and maybe turn off the power strip / power controller? leaving the computer off for a few hours. Come back later after powering up and internet login when accessing the forum you fine that you must relogin?

As I understand it the forum program will erase the cookie or cookies only after you click on logout and asks the question if you want to logout, if yes cookies are deleted.

Tom, I never log out and my PC is on 24/7. The difference between me and you may be our browsers. I use Firefox and it was OK with the old forum. Some forums I am a member of go for months and even years before I need to log in. This new one is obviously a bit stronger on security than the previous version. It's no big deal, just annoying to have to log in nearly every time I visit.

For the old forum, I only had to select it, then double click on "login" and my login details would be displayed for an OK.

Now, I have to enter "username" and "pasword", and have the option to click "automated login".  To what purpose?  When it is time to leave, "logout" tells me that to carry on, "automated login" will be lost.

In that case, what's the point of it?  Fortunately, my login details are not time-consuming - just Roy V and ####, which many people here could decode anyway!

So, in what way is the automated login suppopsed to help?

Btw, my wife has decided that if I'm not using the puter, I should shut down for an hour or two: 24/7??  She would nail me to the Global Wrming (and electricity prices) wall!  (and don't tell me it doesn't use much - this is my WIFE I'm talking about here.)

Your Internet Service? High speed Wifi (various) and Lan at work

What 'OS' (Operating System) are you using? Vista and XP at work

Dose this happen if -

you keep the the same internet window and change websites then return to TFM? Yes

you close the internet window that you loged in with and open a new internet window? Yes

you closed and powered down your computer, restarted computer(warm reboot or cold reboot) and open new internet window? Yes, both ways

It is beyond me too. I have my settings to accept cookies, etc. Is there a setting in the user control panel that perhaps I overlooked?

Did you know that the energy saved (and resources) by recycling one aluminum soda pop can can power a computer for three hours?

That's what the city tells me anyway.

- Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to run a TV for three hours -- or the equivalent of 1.8927 liters of gasoline.(http://wwwlb.aub.edu.lb/~weburp/factsfigures.html)

Well I cannot log in at home on my vista pc. I enter my name and password and it logs me in, then as soon as I select a thread to look at, it automatically logs me out. I am in work now, using a windows XP system, with the same log in details and it works fine. I wonder if it is a vista thing?

Best wishes

Have all of you check to look at how the security setting are set on your computers? You may have to set the security to allow TFM remember in all rights this is a new program so old settings won't work.

Interestingly It has let me in tonight, Dont ereally understand why as I have not done anything differently, changed my cookie settings or security settings. Perhaps it is just a quirk with the new forum.

Best wishes

I've popped on and off of here during the course of the day. Of course, now that I elaborated on when and where it was not working, I've not had to log in again since this morning.

I did find in the control panel where I can set more thant he 10 lines of entries per page.

Well, hopefully the other computer toinght will behave itself like this one did today. I'll check.  :hehe:
