It felt a little odd hearing her applicationread in lodge.Sort of like looking into mom's purse....even with permission, it just feel odd... I had to smile though at some of her answers. Totally truthful, and totally my mom.

Yep, it is definitely like looking into mom's purse...even with permission, it feels odd. The petition was read again at meeting, and then a vote was taken. She is one of our two new candidates for initiation. Initiation is tentatively scheduled for March 21 I will still be sitting in the North till after I’m passed. (April?)

That is great news Daralee. I would love for my own mum to join too but alas her age and health and other considerations means it's hardly likely to happen in this life time. However, she remains very interested in Freemasonry.

Hello.
I didn't realize you were on this board.
Welcome.
I've been away a bit as I don't have regular internet access.
My knee is healing well. I just have to get more mobility in it so I can go back on full duty.
My mom is getting very excited and a bit nervous.
I keep reminding her that I'll be right there in the room with her.

Yes, they let me in occasionally :)I was a member of the old forum, in fact, that was the first Masonic forum I every joined, this was back in 2004 and I am grateful to both Mikes and others for putting up with me. I have learned much from that place and hope to continue to learn from this new, improved one, as well. Glad to hear your knee is better:)

Well, here it is.....so many months later. My mother was initiated after some other lodge business including me giving greetings for the first time from another member from another lodge and my own examination. I thoroughly enjoyed watching and participating (as much as I was able from the N) It was like I was going through the initiation myself all over again. I guess that is normal. Odd thing is that though it was my mother, she was at that point just one of the two candidates ready to take their first steps. Yes, she was still my mom....but she was also this other person about to be my brother....interesting and joyful experience for me. I am very glad now that my examination was this month and not last. I was a bit flustered at the last and I sort of flubbed on the final motions in the start of the closing ceremonies....it was because I was still thinking on all that preceded. I was a bit distracted by my own thoughts....wonderfully so. If you've never witnessed an initiation after your own, I highly recommend it. It is quite invigorating.
