Having just had yet another scrape over at LRUK with someone who doesn't (want to) understand what the Masonic Charities are or how they work, I sort of find myself wondering how many newer brethren are left bewildered usually by their senior Lodge members regarding them.I know far more now than I ever knew about the work of the Grand Charity than I did before I started working there but nowadays (and for a couple of years) the website is live and it fills in all the blanks that I now know that I had. Particularly when it comes to the assistance dished out to our own fallen members or their widows (Masonic Relief Grants).
If you want to actually know about the work of the Masonic Charities (and to learn about some of the life altering stuff we make possible) you should visit their websites and have a read. Please don't listen to the old toffee that some of our more senior brethren seem to delight in spreading around.
The 4 central Masonic Charities are:
Freemasons Grand Charity = www.grandcharity.org , Royal Masonic Trust for Girls & Boys = www.rmtgb.org , Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution = www.rmbi.org.uk and the Masonic Samaritan Fund = www.msfund.org.uk
