Brethren, having been a member of the Societas Rosicruciana In Anglia for almost 2 years now, I am still surprised by how relatively unheard of this beautiful Masonic Order is. When people ask me what Orders I am in at the festive board, I get many looks of complete incomprehension when I say SRIA, and I have been asked how I can be a member of Rose Croix when I hadn't been a Mason for long enough by one person. It amazes me, when we have so many discussions about the Royal Arch, or Mark Masonry, between large numbers of experienced brethren that the topic of the SRIA / SRIS rarely rears its head.
Bro Stephen and Bro Cora, do you have a version of the SRIA within LDH?
Are many members of this forum in the SRIA / SRIS?
Purely out of curiosity, as it seems that this excellent Order is passing by many brethren.
Best wishes.
Best wishes
Eldmar.

I am a member of Tamworth Castle College SRIA and I too am used to blank looks when I tell people.
I have had people respond by telling me that they are the 30th degree in that!
I am not in Roix Croix however...
SRIA is to me a wonderful, wonderful order.

At the risk of being accused of being pedantic...
SRIA/SRIS is not Masonic (though candidates for admission must be Freemasons) and it is not an Order - the clue is in its/their name.;)

ChrisH1 (28/02/2010) Bro Eldmar
I totally agree with you! A most beautiful Society to belong too!
Perhaps too many members would spoil the intimacy of the meetings?:hehe:
Yes there is that, we had our Provincial meeting last week, hosted by my College, there were 18 people present - which was a fantastic turn out for my College meeting, but for the Provincial meeting that immediately followed, 18 attendees is pretty poor, when you consider that the Provincial Craft meeting will pack out the venue, with people standing in the room due to not enough chairs.
Best wishes

I agree, it is a fantastic society. I particularly like the way that the SRIA has recently changed their openings. Perhaps to keep both societies' rituals the same, the SRIS may adopt the same practice. As as side note, any members of the SRIS going to the Metropolitan College tomorrow night in Edinburgh?
regards

We don't have SRIA in LDH as we don't need it. We are Esoteric from the EA Degree right the way to the 33rd in the A&ASR and we consider these to be an Initiatic Continuity. When in UGLE I was in SRIA and got as far as the 4th Grade.

But it was a great meeting and good to have your company again

Definitely, and you almost got away with not having to do anything in the ceremony! Do you want to come along to our next meeting - April 30th?
Best wishes

maybe the masses are just not concerned with a small invite only group.
