Tom Cherup (24/02/2010) BrotherJHairston,
....In your jurisdiction is plural membership allowed between different jurisdictions?
Apparently it is permitted here in Ohio. I know of three cases where PH masons also belong to Ohio Gl lodges.
If you want to be free, there is but one way; it is to guarnatee an equally full measure of liberty to all your neighbors --Carl SchurzDarylee, 3°; (I am a women in Ohio, USA) Columbus,OH ; (Renaissance Lodge #5, Orient of Detroit)My posts are my personal opinions. If it's OK for me to speak about this, both being outside the USA and being still a profane, I would suggest that's it possible that it could be a decision that the Lodge in question would need to locally determine.
However, the nature of the Fraternity would suggest that there is no impediment for any person of any creed or colour to join any particular Lodge provided that they are determined to be a good fit, as well as the usual acceptance and selection criteria.
Or am I completely ignorant?
Cheers - RoughAshlar.

Maybe my question needs to be moved to a new thread; however, have UK Lodges seen membership grow from the last five decades of large scale immigration?

Yes, it would be a good idea to start a new thread since this question has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

The ETJ is a contentious point - ETJ doesn't actually exist - one only has to look at the various districts of UGLE, GLoS and GLoI to understand that ETJ is a relatively modern term and in some instances is being used as a smoke screen to block or prevent recognition. Like markmason, I don't have a dog in this fight, just an opinion (worth about 2.5 cents)My personal view is I would dearly like both PH and the existing 'regular' jurisdictions to continue as they both have fine traditions and histories and the world woud be a poorer place without the vibrancy they both offer. Vive la difference as they say in Paris (France that is......not Texas)

Firdtly, I salute your service and dedication to your country.I wish you well in your application. Secondly, it is a matter of choice whether you join a PH Lodge or another (Mainstrean) Craft Lodge. It is obviously different in England to America, as we don't have PH Lodges per se. Most , but not all, PH Lodges are recognised under the UGLE. The fact that "you are white, married to a black woman" would probably cause less comment over here than it would in your own country. It is a question of what you are most comfortable with. A Prince Hall Lodge (which I cannot believe you would be made to feel uncomfortable in) or a mostly "white Lodge", which I am sure your wife would be made most welcome in. I think you have to ask whether your wife would be seeking to take an active part in your Masonry, or whether she would "remain in the background" and leave your Masonic involvement to you alone." All I know my friend, is that you would be most welcome in my Lodge. (a long time ago:- British Army)

I can't really improve on Roy's answer - what I would say is that with a young family you would be far better off spending your spare time with them, rather than spending it on freemasonry. It is a precious commodity and time with your children when they are very young cannot be recreated and should be valued.
I've been a freemason for 8 years and father for 11 weeks, my freemasonry is very much taking a back seat for the next couple of years until my son is older. Freemasonry makes it very clear that my family is my first priority, a message I give full endorsement to.

Further to my last, I think the assistance available from English Freemasons to your query is likely to be limited due to our lack of knowledge of PH Masonry generally. I know that we have a number of American Brethren on the site. Perhaps they can assist you better with their more local knowledge and experience.
