I have tried to find it through several pages of there official web site and other links through google but i can't. Maybe because i'm being silly and it isn't or has never been an issue but does anyone know wether Prince hall freemasonry accepts applications from white gentlemen or is it a black only organisation?

To the best of my knowledge no GL (PH included) has a 'colour bar' written into their rules.I know of PH members who are white, the membership of the order is mostly drawn from the African-American community but it is not an exclusively 'black' organisation

Hi Alan,
As intra-recognition in the US is becoming a matter of fact, I would imagine that what you describe is also possible.

I have seen photos of MM certificate awards in a Price Hall lodge (a military lodge outside the US) where the scenario you describe is true.

I don't know if this is a twist of language or what - just because one see's a picture of a lodge that is composed solely of non-white's one cannot extrapolate the conclusion that the entire organisation is based colour We have to be exceptionally accurate with our representations of GL's - lest by ignorance or mistake we cause offence or grave damage to them

From former slave to Right Worshipful Master, Prince Hall rocked the Masonic world.Yes, by all historic means, they accepted 'white' folks. White people even served as RWM of Prince Hall Lodges. Prince Hall was initiated by white people why wouldn't they accept whites? That would be hypocritical if they didn't.

Yes we do accept white brothers into our lodges, which proves that Prince Hall GLs have the spirit of unity pulsating through our fraternal veins.

Hi all,
I saw Bod's comment and I re-read my original post.
I have to agree with him, my second paragraph is ambiguous and can give the wrong impression about PH Masonry.
I apologise if anyone has been offended.
My post was not intended to say or imply that PH Masonry only accepts members from the African-American community. On the contrary, I wanted to say that PH Masonry does not do this.

BrotherJHairston,
About two weeks ago my lodge had a visit of members and officers of the Grand lodge of Prince Hall of Michigan. After the meeting I was talking with the visiting brothers, I told him that I understood that plural membership between jurisdictions is not allowed. He told me that this is true.
In your jurisdiction is plural membership allowed between different jurisdictions?

It was confirmed to me some years ago by PHA brethren that just like us in Engand there is no colour or race bar to joining PHA Lodges. It is not a case of them not accepting white members but rather back when Prince Hall was ruling Africa Lodge white men did not wish to join but as we all know things have changed just a litte over the last two hundred years.

Do any of the US Grand Lodges, especially those in what is sometimes called "Dixieland" or the former Confederate States refuse to accept Black prospective candidates or to allow Black Masons to attend their Meetings?
