I received a call today. I am accepted.

Initiation is set for 19 April.

It seems that only the GL wears gloves these days out here too.

Cheers - RoughAshlar.

Congratulations!

I was nervous about my Interview but, when it came down to it, I found it all very friendly and relaxed too.

Good luck for April...

This is exactly how the 'interview' should be. More on the lines of a relaxed affair for the candidate as well as the comittee. A lot of the background information and confirmation of joining should be done pre interview by the Proposer, Seconder and the Lodge Mentoring Coordinator. Come the interview itself the questions should be merely a formality and it is a chance for the members to meet their prospective candidate. I see no harm in informing him that evening after due consideration that he is accepted and a date is fixed.

If we take the process seriously but with the touch of Brotherley Love then the candidate takes those feelings onboard and is not apprehensive over and above the normal nerves.

For those who are joining or have just joined it is worth bearing in mind that regardless of rank and station in life or masonic hierachy in Freemasonry we are all equal. All aprons are based upon the plain white lambskin which is an emblem of innocence and purity. No amount of colour or gold can disquise it. We may also be on a different masonic stage or journey but nobody is above or below anyone else, despite what some may have you think.

Dear Messrs dp, DarkHorse and lauderdale

Thank you for your very kind words.

Despite being experienced, having become hackneyed, hardened and worthlessly toughened in much and many that life offers this event is one that brings a great happiness to me. Indeed, a great joy unlike any I have experienced for a very long time.

Obviously, an enormous pride too. A heart swelling pride.

I look forward to the EA ordeal (experience? hmmm - it is such a tame word for such a grand, important change and commitment; sorry - lost for words and that's REALLY a first!) and to taking my place among the Brothers of my Mother Lodge, and those of the world of UGLE, so soon.

Sorry to wax poetic, but I feel rather humbled. One of Australia's greats of country music called 1033 home - yes - the truly mighty and ever-so-humble Smoky Dawson.

With much humility in my mind, heart and soul it is time for me to learn, grow, live and love even more.

With hand on heart, I remain - RoughAshlar.

Well just had the interview.was not a long interview at all. felt more of like a getting to know u phase. i must admit i was rather nervous at first, but soon settled down after a few questions that i was asked. none of the questions tried to catch me out at all, they were all good honest questions. For example was my wife happy with what i was doing?, am i able to commit time to the lodge?, those sort of questions.. i just hope i wasn't too relaxed or too nervous.. either way i felt it didn't go too bad. just got to wait and find out the outcome now. hopefully its positive... i will let you all know. thanks to all who posted previous to my posts, set me a bit more at ease.  ;-)

My interview was the easiest one of all. I didn't have one !!
I was requested to attend an interview but it clashed with a pre-booked holiday so I asked for it to be re-arranged for another date. The next 'official' communication was the letter telling me to turn up and be initiated.
I did know 4 lodge members previous to my initiation though, so I think I must have got through on their say so in my absence.
