Just published (under FOI) is a document showing bookings of rooms in the Palace Estate by MP's. Aside from seeing what junkets have been thrown by MP's it is interesting to do a search through to see a few rooms used by lodges. Wondering how long before the main stream press start digging through it!

A couple of examples: Removed as I don't think this Forum needs to exacerbate any possible problems MM

It is generally accepted that Freemasons as a matter of courtesy do not publicise the membership of each other without asking first. To do so is very rude.

IIRC New Welcome meets at GQS. Despite claims from certain sources there are NO Lodges, under the UGLE, that meet at the Palace of Westminster or, for that matter, at Buckingham Palace.

This topic has been closed as if the names of the MPs that have Masonic links are removed it's just about Freedom of Information requests.

In a case of pure serendipity,  I have been explaining that it is not in this Forum's interest to start "outing" people's Masonic membership without their consent.

Although the events referred to in the original document were of an undoubtedly Masonic nature, the fact that they were booked by MPs does not prove that those MPs are actually Freemasons as they can book facilities on behalf of Constituents and sponsors etc. A bit like the current news story regarding David Cameron hosting members of the HFAF (lady Masons) of which he is (I am assured) not a member.

This then led me to investigate whether the present Speaker of the House is on the Square, I have just checked and I can confirm that John Simon Bercow does not appear on the membership of the UGLE. Therefore this Forum could have become instrumental in the strand of Conspiracy Theory that already alleges that the last Speaker, Michael Martin, is a Freemason (I wonder where they got that idea??) when he is not.

Of course being in possesion of the person's consent would have already clarified whether he was actually a member or not.
