Well, it's been a rollercoaster ride to get here, with 3 cancellations due to ill health and a near-cancellation last night due to work commitments, but last night I passed through the veils and became a Companion of the Holy Royal Arch of Jerusalem.

I am truly, deeply, speechless - and what else could I be?

"Be still in the presence of the Lord, the Holy One is here".

Excellent news Cora. By the sound of it your Chapter ritual is very similar to Scottish Chapter. A warm welcome to the Order worthy Companion.

My wife is secretary to a number of Embroiders' Guilds/Patchwork Quilters'/Womens' rurals' thingys. If only I could get her interested in Masonry and Chapter. I'd give anything to see her "speechless". (You're right she can't see this posting).

*LOL* @ Roy. I think our MEZ was rather stunned to see me in this state, too!:D But then again, what CAN you say?

Going by Ward, our ceremony is closer to the Scottish working than to the English working, and I'm happy for it. I wouldnt' have missed the veils for anything in the world.

Corab,
Congratulations on joining us in this most beautiful Degree - It is my favorite I get so much out of it and whilst I enjoy the Craft - I find this degree so much softer - The passing thoughthe veils so very profound, and personally challenging.
It certainly prepared me for the HRA ceremony. After a number of years in HRA I found "What do you know about the Royal Arch?" by Revd Neville Brarker Cryer - This is an interesting book even though it naturally contains quite a bit that is Malecraft Specific.
As in all Freemasonry there are many layers in every aspect - and this book concentrates on just one level - Having said that there are times in the HRA ceremony - I can well imagine sitting in a tent in the desert.
Corab I Know you will enjoy HRA best wishes for your progress in Chapter

Roy,
Perhaps you could investigate your nearest LDH, and see if your wife might be attracted to them.
Even though she could never sit in a malecraft Lodge with you, the satisfaction and pleasure discussing Freemasonic Ritual with ones mate is immense.

Hi Whistler,

And thanks for your congratulations.

whistler (29/01/2010)

Heavens, yes. It really does set the tone for the HRA ceremony, doesn't it?

As in all Freemasonry there are many layers in every aspect - and this book concentrates on just one level - Having said that there are times in the HRA ceremony - I can well imagine sitting in a tent in the desert.

We were given a copy of one of J.S.M. Ward's books on the HRA, and from that it would seem the emphasis of the rituals he describes is different from that of the Sydney working, just as we see in the Mark. I get what you mean with that tent, though. We all have a wilderness within us.

h.g.w.,
