I'm interested in joining Mark in London (Where I work) - My mother lodge is in the North East (Craft).

What would be the best way to get the ball rolling - should I contact the secretary of the Mark lodge or make arrangement through my mother lodge for an introduction ?Unfortunately, I don't know any Mark members in London.

Mark is a wonderful friendly Degree and I recommened it to you. To be honest I always prefered it to HRA Chapter although a member of both. Mark was the first Degree I joined after being Raised.

First thing to come to grips with is that joining the Mark along with the other English Appendant Orders is actually joining a completely different body, different fees, regalia etc. This means that unlike HRA, your Craft Lodge is not necessary to the process. I would offer to introduce you to my Mark Lodge but I understand that it is a "staff" Lodge.

Steve is quite right it is a nice degree and I too prefer it to HRA.

Follow Mike's advice - I will add my voice to that of Mike and Steve as being fonder of the Mark than I am HRA.

The Mark is one of the most important and beautiful degrees in Masonry. It inculcates most if not all of the meanings and philosophies of all the other degrees. It is also one of the friendliest degrees that you will come across. I thoroughly recommend it to you. The main thing is to choose a Lodge that is convenient to you and who's meetings you can attend. I would assume that there are Mark Lodges meeting at your usual Masonic venue.

if all else fails, I know a very nice friendly Mark Lodge in Northumbria!

I had a phone conversation with a member of a London Mark lodge who was introduced to me by a member of my own lodge. We are going to meet up for a drink soon to discuss things so hopefully things will develop from that.

Yes, someone was silly enough to try that with me after I was Raised. They got their ears scorched off metaphorically and told where to go!
