Leaving out over half of the names of Brethren would cause more doubts in the minds of observers though.  Consider a disciplinary hearing in a particular profession: if mud is being slung about, and Mr Google (who knows everything) comes up with lists ... "So he's one too, and him, and him ... "

In the UK, unlike the US, it's still advisable at times to "keep our secrets".  I think this is a shame, but I accept the need.

I work for a multi national company, and like suggested previously two of my colleges are in a very senior position and are forced to hold their membership a closely guarded secret, as for me, I will tell if asked, I'm proud of what I am.

I have no problem stating the fact of my membership. I'm is the process of job hunting since the company I worked for has closed. A number of companies here have a habit of checking-out future employee by doing a web search of their name. I keep up on what pops up on the web about my name. When a search is done of my name this as well as other masonic forums comes up. I would rather have the truth of me being a Freemason other that a false information be out there.

So if it is going to show up why hide the fact?
