Evening all,

As some of you know I have been MM for almost a year now and have recently joined the waiting list for Mark (2 years).

I have read the Dan Brown book and found it interesting.  It talks alot about the highest degree being the 33rd.

I think I am 3rd?!?!?  Long way to go.

Does anyone have anything that they can email me detailing the degrres and what they are?!  If that makes sense. I would like to know where else and what else I can do.

Thank you in advance

Sharon

it totally depends on whether you are doing the york rite or the scottish rite sharon but if you google either of them it will give you a comprehensive list and the names that they are called in the relevant countries

Sharon,

If I remember right you're in an LDH Lodge aren't you? If yes you probably do Scottish Rite but I would suggest PMing either Steve Foley or Cora as they're both LDH as well and can help.

Sharon.

It is wonderful you wish to seek more light. However, would it not be more prudent to inquire within your own lodge first? They should be able to sit down and describe more in depth what further degrees you may seek if you so desire. Remember, none are higher than the MM or 3rd deg.

Keep in mind that as of this writing, I am still only FC or 2nd deg. When I was still an EA 1st deg, I did inqure about the same subject. Of course, I am not permitted to speak of our own inner workings. So I will not comment on ours.

From other masuline only discipline members who have volunteered the information, I have found that many are similar if not the same in requirements. They indicate there is a length of time required fromthe MM or 3rd to the folowing degrees. Most seem to go from a year to 3 years. Additionally, their higher degrees are by invitation only.

Hello. Bro Cora is at the National Convention in Surbiton at this moment in time and I am at Glasgow Airport (Rab C Nesbitt International) waiting for my plane back to England's Green and Pleasent Land.

I will get back to you when I am back at my own PC in "Festung Steven".

I think that Bro Sharon is actually in OWF or HFAF?

Thank you all for your replies.

Lauderdale is correct I am a memeber of  the OWF.

We had a practice meeting today and I learnt a few more things by asking questions as we went along.

Just the simple

Why do we do that?

What is that for?

I find this helps me greatly, if we know why we do things then it sticks in our minds better.

Yes it does :)

I just had a look on Amazon and there are some books on the OWF which look quite good.

Hi Sharon,

concerning Side degrees:
The 33rd degree you mentioned is part of the AASR. The York Rite, if I have understood it, is a series of additional side degrees.
I would imagine that, even though you are in the OWF, the same rites and degrees as in the male obediences are worked.

The main thing always is to ask, as you yourself found out.

For some added general info (which might make you expand your knowledge), the Scandinavian Rite comprises of 11 degrees while the Egyptian Rite of Memphis-Misraim comprises of 99 degrees.

Except that..... York and Scottish Rite don't really apply to UGLE freemasonry, they are more common in the US.
In England & Wales the Ancient & Accepted Rite is the governing body for the degree's peculiar to that system. This covers the 18th - 33rd.
