Hi Tom,

The Doctor will always save the earth!:D

But his brother The Master will always try to destroy it, I thought Eric Roberts did well in that film. Miss Roger Delgado and Anthony Ainley though

Chris

I was thinking more in line of the Nightclub at the end of the Universe (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)
Then you could watch the end over and over. :w00t:

"PARTY TIME!!" :P

Yea I know how to be rowdy. :D

Yea I know how to be rowdy. :D

Now, being old, I remember Rowdy (Yates) was an early role played by Clint Eastwood.  Are you tall enough for it, Tom? :)

Even I am totally sceptical about this "prophesy".  Like Man Made Global Warming it is something I do not believe in.

...has anybody considered that it might be a masonic conspiracy for total world domination? We haven't had a new theory for at least six months, and those mayans and aztecs had all manner of masonic symbols carved around some of their temple doorways and what about those who believed that Quetzalcoatl was a representation of Jesus and will come again. 2012 sounds just about right!

...........but don't hold your breath forumites!

We will reclaim Mount Moriah and build the New Solomon Temple, take over Washington D.C. again and resurrect a new "godlike" George Washington statue. Meanwhile, Dan Brown will have his 7th novel out entitled "33rd Degree Masons Survive 2012".

when were we last xposed to the galactic core and what happened?

The mechanistic gravitational model of the universe cannot propose meaningful impacts from alignment with the galactic core.

The electric cosmos theory however gives us more scope http://www.electric-cosmos.org/indexOLD.htm
http://members.cox.net/dascott3/index.htm

This gives us the possibility that electric currents flow from the galactic centre to the Earth. The alignment might trigger a change in electric flows and thereby an alteration in the dynamics of the solar system. But I doubt that much change would occur, otherwise we should have detected a trail of disturbance as the alignment moves across the galaxy.

The next theory to consider is the Gaia theory. If the Earth behaves as if it is alive, why not the Sun and the solar system?

That allows the possibility that as the changing day length triggers plant changes, periodic exposure to the galactic centre might trigger changes in the biology or psychology of the Gaian entities that make up the solar system.

Any such changes in Gaian psychology would no doubt impact upon humans. Personally I would expect any impacts on humans to be along the line of "shape up or ship out", but the Gaian system might be more tolerant than I expect.

And what theories are there beyond the Gaian?

Russell & Mgc, this may give you cause for thought

Earths north magnetic pole is racing toward russia at almost 40 miles (64 kM) A YEAR DUE TO MAGNETIC CHANGES IN THE PLANETS CORE, NEW RESEARCH SAYS.
The core is too deep for scientists to detect its magnetic field directly, but researhers can infer the fields movements by tracking how earths magnetic field has been changing at the surface and in space.
Now, newly analysed data suggest that there's a region of rapidly changing magnetism on the core's surface, possibly being created by a mysterious plume of magnetism arising from deeper in the core.
And its this region that could be pulling the magnetic pole away from its long time location in northern canada, said arnaud chulliat, geophysicist at the institut de physique du globe de paris in france.
Magnetic north, which is the place where compass needles actually point, is near but not excactly in the same place as the geographic north pole. Right now, magnetic north is close to canada's ellesmere island.
The north magnetic pole had moved little from the time that scientists first located it in 1831. Then in 1904, the pole began shifting northeastward at a steady pace of about nine miles ( 15km) a yaer. In 1989 it sped up again, and in 2007 scientists confirmed that the pole is now gallaping toward siberia at 34 to 37 miles ( 55 to 60 km) a year.
A rapidly shifting magnetic pole means that magnetic field maps need to be updated more often to allow compass users to make the crucial adjustment from magnetic north to true north.
Nobody knows when another change in the core might pop up elsewhere, sending magnetic north wandering in a new direction.
