Did anyone else notice the "REAL MASONS" performing the third degree in the santa costumes the candidate was wearing a EA apron not a FC apron.  Hmmm seems to me that "REAL MASONS" wouldnt make a mistake like that.

Brethren, Brethren, Brethren, I hope we are not trying to insinuate that Father Christmas is in fact, not a Mason?

What a nightmare! 'Brother Father Christmas, you having been........'

I recorded (ON MY VHS!!!!) the programme and watched it when I returned home last night.

It could have been a lot worse, to be honest. The usual scattergun approach in respect of obediences and fiction/fact to make things more tasty.

I thought the rationale behind the Calvi murder actually laughable: 'he had returned to London, where Freemasonry was born'. And the Blackfriars Bridge being near to GQS and within sight of St Pauls (hardly unique to many places in London).

I thought John Hamill spoke well (as he always does)-two things I was impressed with were the dramatisation and costumes in the 3rd (notwithstanding Br. Fr .Christmas) and the insight into the Masonic buildings in the USA.

Cheers

Mark

Recorded it; watched it; my opinion: I've seen better "convincing proofs" of a beard on a Selfridge's Santa.

I did find quite a lot of it rang true, ie all the bits spoken  by John Hamill.  As for the rest, well, the Yanks like to dress up for ceremonies, but unfortunately in a manner I find detracts from the business, but that's only on the evidence of the "expose" programmes I have watched on TV and youtube.

Hang on, I reckon it's all the same bit of film, re-hashed yet again!  Mike said John Hamill wasn't approached: he'd forgotten he did his bit about 3 years ago for a different film!

Some of the ritual is unusual to me - we know there are misprints in certain editions - but mine has the dunghill missing completely.

Don't forget: we have had two pub meets close to Blackfriars Bridge.  (My choice, due to the beer, pies and vintage malt sold there.)  That definitely makes it a Masonic site.  And I was there again last week, and it only took 25 min or so to walk to FMH.

All in all, this anti-football-fan would have done better to watchChelsea!

I didnt see it but I heard they also included the "pretending to shoot the cans behind a blindfolded candidate" which has nothing to do the FM but was some small club in the US a few people started.

I understand that in some US Lodges all who are not Office Holders wear a plain white apron so the "EA" Apron on the Candidate for Raising may well have been correct for that Constitution. Also the words do vary from those of Emulation even within UGLE never mind in the other Constitutions which meet in the British isles so the reference to the Dunghill could well be correct for an American Third Degree.

The program from before was "Freemasons on trial", It was basically just a remake of that with 1 new "guest" - the Dan Brown "Expert", waste of time as far as I am concerned.

it was a re-hash of the old one that everyone's seen on youtube, they have just edited in the new bits,

I did see the experience as a positive thing because it gave me the opportunity to show my wife a little more about what freemasonry is a bit about. Don't get me wrong, it did not show what freemasonry is fully about, I'm not trying to say that, A lighter guide for people in the dark as one may say,

ok, I will get off now before I make myself look any worse,

I found it very amusing and I have to admit our American Brothers really know how to build a Masonic Lodge!

Are you talking about a building or membership?

Are you talking about the house of the temple Brother? It is a fantastic building and I can but hope to visit if I am ever in Washington.  This is not a craft building however but the Supreme Council building in Washington DC.
