15 season is about to start

I play in the USA Rugby Union--->*consult Wikipedia for listing of all the Union teams* (play in Divisions). You have TRU (Territorial Rugby Unions) and than you have all the LRU (Local Rugby Unions) which form into Divisions (I-III), depending on the amount of teams you can have more than one Division (I-III).

We play in the West TRU of the United States in the Texas LRU in the North Division (Division III, the highest level of competition in Divisional play).

The team is called Oklahoma City Crusaders at

http://www.oklahomacityrugbyclub.com

Pretty sweet...I love Rugby and when I think of all my Masonic brothers out in the United Kingdom and elsewhere, I think about Rugby...can't help myself.

If anyone cares about Football in general Oklahoma is crazy over football. A bit of a National obsession and Oklahoma is college football central. I don't care for American Football because of the scrimmage and the stop plays, the pads, the attitude turns me off of the sport. In general, I think we as Rugby players bring relief to all the craze over American Football.

______

I have been playing for 3 years, which is baby years in this sport. If you are not familiar with Rugby, there is no age discrimination. If you are 90 and can play Rugby, you can play.

I currently play the 11,14, and 15 positions (Wings and Fullback).

While I was in high school....while living on the East coast in the state of Delaware....

ever the tom boy I'm afraid, ..........We would often meet in the local park for a scrimage game against the kids from the adjoining neighborhood....It was much more fun than the flag football,,,or contact football without pads. OUCH...and I wonder why my knees are bad now.

One of the fellows here I work with is on a local Rugby team. I don't know the name of their team, or what division. (Columbus, OH)

I can even claim to have watched the USA Eagles play live when I took my daughter some time ago to see them get beaten by Wales at one of the last matches at the old National Stadium in Cardiff

I apologize. We play in Division III in the LRU (Texas local rugby Union) which is not the hightest level of competition in our Union.

That is not the highest division. That honor goes to Division I. My mistake. Teams like the Dallas (Union and Super League) Harlequins and the Austin Blacks are not be taken lightly. These guys rock and will ruck you.

They play in the "pro" Division I of the Texas (LRU) in the Western (TRU).

____________

To clarify, in order to be "seen" in USA Rugby (to play for the National team) you either have to be one of the best players on the University of California (Berkeley) Rugby college team (24 National Championships, most in College sports history in the US) or you play for a Super League.

That is the bottomline in the United States.

______________

So I stand corrected. Thanks

The Guinness Rugby Premiership Season opens today in England.

Tomorrow we have the big Double Header at Twickenham with

The Mighty Wasps taking on Harlequins and London Irish taking on Saracens.

I cant wait for the kick off really looking forward to Wasps having a much better season this year.

Rugby - A hooligans sport played by gentlemen

Football - A gentlemans game played by hooligans.

Me - i was a gentleman that played both and was pretty decent.

Played for my regiment and won the army cup.

Represented the corp(royal corp of signals)

and played for the BAOR( British army of the Rhine) combined team.

Had a great time playing touring south Wales in the 80's and playing teams like Llannelli, neath, port talbot etc. What an experience. and what a drinking session.

What does this make my beloved Aussie Rules - a hooligans game played by hooligans?

I'm just about to sit down to watch Australia v South Africa in the Tri-Nations; after the shellacking South Africa dished out last week in Perth, I hope the Wallabies are up for it.

Yes well played the Wallabies..

Edinburgh & Glasgow both off to a good start in the Magners League... That promises to be a good competition this season.

I am of the opinion that Rugby is not conducive to good Freemasonry.  In fact it can be a bloody nuisance!

My Lodge meets on a Saturday afternoon at Cole Court, Twickenham, almost in the shadow of Twickers RFU ground, and only a few hundred yards from the Stoop: HQ I believe of Harlequins, and I have to travel along the Great Chertsey Road past both of them!

Mind you, the Masonic Centre makes a lot of money out of spare parking places, and even more money selling beer after the game.
