Now Australia beats England - I wonder If the Northern Hemisphere put more effort in the development of their native players at club level - rather rely so heavily imported players. they would have more money to support and develop local players and provide a bigger pool of quality young men to serve the national team.

I enjoy rugby, I support the Springboks (1995 and 2007 World Champions) and my club team is the Free State Cheetahs domestic and the Cheetahs (super 14).

The son of one of my colleagues in the USA plays American football for his college. When it was suggested he take up rugby he blanched owing to the lack of safety gear.

As the well used saying goes, "It takes leather balls to play rugby." :D

Match report...good to know I was part of history. In a game that was suppose to be prep for the Oklahoma State University Rugby team whom are playoff bound..turned into an embarassing loss or a wake-up call for them when Oklahoma Central University won by one-point. The coach called us up from the Oklahoma City Crusaders Club, I belong to, to fill the roster for OCU. My President of the Club filled in 1st row at Loosehead and I filled in as 11, 14, and 6. I never played blindside Flanker before but I had a lot to prove because the OCU backline were offset and missing tackles when the Number 8 of OSU ran circles on them. I played Wing for a bit until halftime and we stuffed the Fullback and Outside Centres as plays were mixed with switches and loops. We came into the second half two tries down, but that was the end of that. I was called up to 6 due to an injury and I resisted like a woman in labor, but the openside Flanker took me in like a long lost son. The first tackle I made resulted in OSU number 4 with a concussion, pushing off on my back legs fully wrapped from the side he tried to twist and lost his footing and our heads came crashing down making love to the ground. My scrumhalf said my head bounced three times, but I only remember once. I managed to get up somehow but he was left limp for 3 seconds or so. I went off the field (to have a concussion test). I know my forearm slammed behind his neck, which I was amazed he continued playing. He ended up finishing one more play before being taken out with ice on his neck. He was not happy with me. Their line-outs were never the same but OCU maintained possession most of the second half.

I do not know if any of you had to be enforced with that but it came with the number 7. He came off the ruck and the number 8 unloaded to him he came streaming from the blindside and I grabbed him and locked his arms, he breaks and throws an elbow at my nose. I thought he broke my nose but it is hard to break steel..kidding. The move was obiviously intentional and that wasn't the last person to try a sucker. We gained advantage when he dropped the ball went out and we didn't look back. It was fun actually for once no open field tackles which are difficult in my opinioin. When the final whistle was blown you could literally hear a pin drop. OSU upset for the first time in 10 years since they have been playing UCO. My club also won against our main rival Ft. Worth on the same day, placing us in a tie for first.

Later that night..I ended up drinking enough pints of beer and the hard stuff to be preserved for a hundred years. :D

By way of courtesy, we should ask the Americans if they would prefer to be buried or cremated after the match...

Well, if we don't do it, the French will probably do it without asking. :D

Cheers - RoughAshlar.

Tom, If the USA should beat Australia in the World Cup Pool - It would be a great joy :D
Did you know how you can tell an Australian?
Check their ankles for shackle marks.:D:D.

Inspite of that they are good guys and I certainly feel for all the folk who have lost their homes in the floods - Curious it was only just under two years ago when the Victoria Bush fires were burning - Australia may be "The Lucky Country" but when Mother nature has a go at them she certainly doesn't hold back
