Greetings,

Would it make a good substitute for your Festive Board?

Tony,

I haven't had a burger like that since I worked in a burger shop back in 1971. What with the young Medical Staff??? or waitress. I could understand his grin that staff could keep me slim. :D   Many of you must look but not touch. Myself I'm not married. :P

It's more fun being in trouble. :w00t:

"Would it make a good substitute for your Festive Board?"

Indeed so! I would quite enjoy a nice cheeseburger after the Meeting. That is why I often go for a meal with friends in a restaurant after the work in the Temple. A happy medium between a buffet on the one hand which may not feed someone of my build and appetite or could have salad or veggie stuff that I simply do not eat, and all the Wine Takings, Toasts, Speeches, Fire etc of the UGLE style FB which to be honest I found to be tedious.

I believe that "Going from Labour to Refreshment" should be just that, a nice relaxed informal meal with Brethren and Friends, be it a burger, steak, pasta, pizza, or whatever takes one's fancy and sharing a bottle or two of wine.

If you are ever back in Hove I will be delighted to stand you a big burger or a "Pile up" (the biggest breakfast they do) at Harry's in New Chuch Road, just along from the Floral Clock. Smasing staff but not up to the Heary Attack Cafe standard.

Yes I know Harry's near Palmeira Square. Didn't W Bro Ed Cruickshank-Robb (Sussex Unity and Civic) have a connection with it once? I also used to get burgers from Grubs. As they were made to order it meant waiting but far better than anything from Burger-king or the dreaded Mac Donalds.

I don't think I am likely to be back in Hove in the foreseeable future.

I too have eaten at Harry's: breakfasts there are fine. Another favourite was that cafe just off Marlborough Square (I think) behind the market-open 24 hrs, I believe-ideal for a late night injection of lard. Can't remember the name.

Steve: I read in another post that you are in Bournemouth? You could always navigate yourself down to Harry Ramsdens , near the BIC, and attempt the Harry Ramsden's challenge: a whole haddock fillet (and they are BIG) chips and mushy peas: if you finish it all, you get a certificate and a free dessert. I proudly completed it 8 or 9 years ago. They have silver cutlery down there, chandaliers and a pianist on some nights: fish and chips at it's finest.

Cheers

Mark

Mark, I have to disagree. Tanya and I ate there this past May when we were down for our Ladies Festival, and it was 100% the worst meal we had ever had! (As we were leaving a lady asked us to assist her with a survey, we gladly took the survey, when she offered us £10 voucher for our trouble, we told her to keep it, and go try the food for herself).
