That's a pretty cool way of putting it.

I come from a very strict Christian Family, so I had to sneak those comics into my house when I was younger. But I absolutely loved V, my concept of truth is maybe a little infantile. That truth can only be shown in symbolic form and thought of, once a man speaks the truth, it is no longer The truth, but HIS truth.

Strange co-incidence, I am the son of a religious minister. Comics were banned and alternative reading material was severely restricted unless part of the "good education" he was paying for.  As for truth, simplistically, there are only three truths that are absolute. You are born, you live, you die. The rest is....:P

That's one of the reasons I am so attracted to the Masonic - and perhaps Computer Game programming.

The masonic? You must be of irish descent, only ever heard it called that by irishmen. Is it the tea you would be wanting? ;). And as for the computer programming, you may have seen a couple of reviews I wrote in a certain computer mag. Think "Black and White". Lionhead.

]But M. it's good to meet another Moore fan

All the best

Chris

Yeah, keep talking, I am listening. ;):D

You gotta love 2000ad and I have seen a good parody of Freemasonry in Judge Dredd, as well as in a number of other comics. In 2000ad they were shown as a bunch of strange bunch of harmless old farts!
I am really into Wildstorm at the moment; Authority, Stormwatch etc. Some of the concepts are mind blowing and the art fantastic. :hehe:

Strength of manhood and beauty of spirit need combination. Masonry thus needs strength with gracefulness, stability with courtesy, and firmness with gentleness.

Aye Guilty of being from 'norn iron' or Northern Ireland.

I loved Black and White that was the first game I got for the PC, it never really lived up to it's hype (a bit like Shiny's Messiah - which was a cool concept, little cherubic angel possessing people and have great lines like, "I'm going to put my foot up Satan's ***"!!)
And the fact that Dave Perry lived up the road from me in Antrim (although I wasn't born then)

I am studying Computer Game design at Ballymoney technical college and it's a fairly meaty subject. I have made a few games for fun on the Blackberry and design 3d models in maya - recently moved to XNA platform. But anyway my main discipline academically is Theology which to me is fascinating - especially the Gnostics.

M.Perrott I'd love to read your reviews sometime.

All the best folks, keep reading the comics -

Actually has anyone read any Preacher?

Just another film using the Jack the Ripper situation and the Masonic tie-ins thereto as a prop. I've seen plenty of these and no doubt there will be more. Some cheap-jack dramatist wants to spice up a mediocre Police series? Well throw in "The Masons" and that will warm things up and improve the ratings, after all aren't all Coppers "On the Square" and all Magistrates, Local Councillors etc, etc, etc. That must be right, it said it in the papers didn't it?

I have heard "The Masonic" used in SW Scotland especially Glasgow but that area has affinities with Ulster and other parts of Ireland anyway so it is no surprise that there are linguistic usages in common.

Its a huge jump from comics, a Theology degree to Freemasonry. Not a direct path by any means. Or is just the "hidden" that attracts you?

It's been a strange sort of connection

I did pretty badly at GCSE level - blame it on me being lazy and uninspired by the teachers or the subject.

I then moved to Ballymena technical college and studied IT and claimed the equivalent of 4 A levels at A grade (I had to resit my Maths - And had to do advanced Maths) I was encouraged to Continue my studies in IT at Queens, but I chose to go to Queens to study theology.

Probably because I wanted to find out the nature of God and maybe our nature as well. But I rejected my parents religious beliefs that had been forced upon me. After my first year of uni I decided that I wanted to get a job and study part time, so I got a job at the IT section of a freight company.

After a couple of months I started to look at creating computer games, learning c++ and Flash Actionscript 3. I then found out there was a course in Ballymoney that dealt with Computer game design, so I signed up for that.

So my week consists of Mon Night - Computer game Design, Wed+Thur night - Theology and weekdays my Job.

Freemasonry has always interested me and I approached the secretary of the Freemason lodge that I was interested to join, we went out for coffee and the WM came as well. They think that my schedule is fine to fit in with Freemasonry and they are lovely supportive people.

hope that answers a few questions folks

Hey, there is no interview here.:D

I was just curious about your interests with regards, "god" the universe and everything. And no, the answer is not "42".

Would I be right in thinking that the "comic " aspect reveals your belief in the concept of man being more than just a conglomeration of cells, and can in fact acheive far more than the "physical"? Step out of the confines of the norm and actually reach potentials only imagined by others?

It sounds like you are doing a wonderful job of driving your life forward!

I think you will very much enjoy Freemasonry.

I would love to study Theology and Philosophy full time, who knows, if I retire early enough I may get the chance!

The Gnostics are a fantastic area of research, as are the Cathars and Martinists.

I also love decent comic books. They have an appeal all of their own...

Yeah, I love looking at the imagination - because I think that is our true strength.

With regards to God:

I see god as like the Architect in the Matrix Movies (pretty low-end reference but..) a being that can see our infinite possibilities -

Sometimes I see God as a woman as well a creator in infinite wonder at her creation and her children.

Sometimes I see God in the reflection of nature

And Sometimes I see God in the reflection of technology

But mostly ...well mostly I don't have a clue

God seems both outer and inner - out "there" (pointing up) and in "here"(pointing to my chest)

The image and the reflection

I suppose That's why I am allegedly "wasting money" on a Theology Degree.
