Its quite a way off yet, but its been set for November, and I am a little worried!

I have learnt most of the answers to the questions that will be asked of me by my RWGM but I also read that any of the Bretherin can ask me questions, and I am not sure what to do if a Bro asks me somthing I don't know the answer too?
Also I am making one of my stained glass S&C Candle holders for my FC, which will have our lodge name and number on it (I have been told by my RWGM that this will be acceptable) but who do I present this too?

Any help would be lovely! I just don't want to make any mistakes!

Sunburst,

The most important thing to do is not worry. You will have a great night and I am sure will do very well.

I doubt your brethren will ask you anything you are unlikely to know the answer to as that would be in bad taste...

In Masonry the effort made is everything.

By Sunburst - 05/07/2009 10:56:15
Thank you dp and I am looking forward to the evening, I just dont want to make any mistakes!...I think I have worked out some of the "single letter..." parts from the book, but its realy tested my brain.
I have lots of questions for my JW! :)
By lauderdale - 05/07/2009 12:20:05
Bro Sunburst. Don't worry. Nobody is trying to catch you out. You have a few months to learn your Obligation and the answers. Good luck and pass on my best wishes to Bro Terry.

By Sunburst - 05/07/2009 17:36:30
I will do Bro Steve, and thank you for your kind words!

I am just about to start my stained glass candle holder, very early I know, but I want this one to be perfect....well as perfect as I can get it. Its all done free-hand so they can somtimes look a bit wonky, but I feel this makes them look rustic. Just like I am rustic and have so much to learn, on a long and beautiful path.
:)
By Fire Mist - 09/07/2009 13:24:28
....and once passed, even more questions for your SW......

enjoy the travel to greater light.

By Sunburst - 09/07/2009 19:02:33
Thank you Fire Mist! :D h.g.w.

My stained glass candle holder isent going too well at the moment, but I will finish it and then make another and see which one is best!

Here is one I made earlier! ;)

Very nice Vicky

Good luck with your FC - to me that degree holds so much of the teaching that really underlines what it means to me a mason - particularly the Working Tools

By Sunburst - 10/07/2009 17:53:23
Thank you Bro Wayne!

I am nervous about it (like I was about my fantastic Initiation) but excited too, and in all honesty I can't wait for my F.C. realy!
:D
By Iain - 10/07/2009 18:47:43
Hi Sunburst

Just remember for your FC that everybody is there for you, we all have nervs before a degree but know in the back of your mind that everyone is attending that night to support you and the lodge.

Enjoy it when it comes, and watch others when they arise.  good luck

By Sunburst - 10/07/2009 20:57:57
Thank you for your kind support Bro Iain! :D

your words make me look forward to my F.C. even more!! and I have also been told I will be present at 2 Initiations too which I feel is an honour!
By Cora B - 10/07/2009 22:39:56
Hi Vicky,

Just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride -- and then work your butt off in the degree:) Boy-oh-boy, if ever we need a reminder that labour is the lot of man ... but you'll enjoy it. It's a beautiful degree, with many, many essential lessons.

Hi Cora!!:D

I am looking forward to learning in this degree! I do enjoy learning, which is what I am excited about....I just hope I don't fluff any of my answers to the questions on the day!
Certain parts of the text which his simply a single letter followed by lots of dots I have had to realy work my brain with that but I think I have at least got part of it right!

I can't say it better. You'll do fine. Rember, all present at your passing has been there before.

It is a beautiful degree. I think with your artistry that you'll enjoy it even more.

By Brother_TJ - 17/07/2009 15:52:41
You will be fine, good luck on your passing Brother. I am sure you will be assisted by your Deacons if you have any problems with what to say or do.

I was examined and passed in one meeting, a bit overwhelming. You will do great.

Not yet, unfortunatly!

I think it will be the next meeting although I hope it will be! Sorry I have not been about as I have only just got back from holiday! ;)

Just to let everyone know I may not be going onto my second next month as planned. Very upset about today as I had to be prompted for all my answers to my questions, and my R.W.G.M said I may have to wait untill December now!
I feel so miserable about it...I feel like I have let my lodge down!
Can anyone cheer me up!?
:crying:
By dp - 08/05/2010 21:00:26
You come across as a very nice person and as one who is very dedicated to the Craft. When you love something so much it can be easy to let the situation overwhelm you.

It is a shame that you got questions wrong but you, we and I am sure your Lodge know that it is not through lack of effort or dedication.

Your day will come and when it does it will be all the sweeter for the wait.

Next time Bro, next time...xxx
By Sunburst - 08/05/2010 21:15:57
Thank you for your very kind words dp!

Well it was an overwhelming situation realy as (due to absence of bretherin) I felt so very honoured to be given the roll of SD at today's meeting, and I was so excited about this wonderful event that my answers simply floated out of my mind!
It was such an exqisite expierence, today!
But I feel I have failed!
Thank you again though!

By lauderdale - 08/05/2010 22:07:11
I wish I could help you Bro Sunburst. Perhaps you should not have taken on the role of a Deacon as this has obviously distracted you. Sometimes one has to say a polite no when asked. Better to do one job well than fall down on several

Personally I would not have asked you to take the role of SD, quite a task for an EA.

Possibly you are not quite ready yet to take the Second Degree, you may have felt that you were but sometimes the heart does get in the way of the head.

You have my sympathies.

By Pilgrim - 09/05/2010 19:06:59
Sorry I wasn't there for you Vicky,I had to cry off at the last minute due to the unholy mother of all migraines. Wife wouldn't let me drive, she's disabled and I would have been useless anyway.

Being a good almoner however,I did 'phone myself at the earliest opportunity to make sure I was alright.

My advice on questions is learn the response to one only 'till you can say it in your sleep, then move on to the next one.

Always worked for me.;)

Keep smiling,see ya soon.

Hi there!!! I really missed you but that's ok!! :D

Having considered things carefully, it is perhpas a good thing that my fellow craft degree has been put back! I have more time to study the craft now.
Also the expierience of being SD meant to much to me! It was wonderful and a day I will never forget!

I agree, do not worry about the mysteries that will manifest for you in your Passing, but I do recommend that you practice the EA work such as the Salutes, st..signs...and bel..entry and so forth. Like I had said, just practice what you know in the EA Degree.

You will do just fine.

Wonderful news indeed Vicky

As I say to everyone who is going to be Passed, pay particular attention to the Working Tools of the Degree - particularly if your lodge does the "extended" working as, to me, the explanation contains much of what it means to be a mason

I can't wait!! Must got to work on my architecture! :D
By Sunburst - 04/06/2010 18:38:49
I wont sleep tonight!! :D

Tomorrow is my Second degree! and I am excited, nervous, apprehensive, delighted, and joyful...all at the same time if that's possible!

I have finished my stained glass tea light holder and have been drying it...its NOT a perfect piece of work, and some of my "piped" lines are a little wonky. But I feel this describes my begining of my personal Masonic journey. Like my archarchitecture too am not perfect and a little wonky. Also when a tea light is placed in it, its light shines directly through the "G" at the centre of the S&C.....I am adoring my next step in my journey!

Pilgrim!!! I do hope you can make it tomorrow!! :D I have got lots of tea cakes and other goodies for the FB!! :D

Is there any last minuite minutethe bretherin here cam offer me, please!

By lauderdale - 04/06/2010 22:25:57
Bro Vicky, I wish you well for it. The Second Degree is actually one of the most important in Craft Freemasonry and is not merely a waypoint between Initiation and Raising as some would regard it. It has many important lessons to inculcate but I am sure that these will neither be missed by nor lost on you.

As for myself I will be having a nice quiet and relaxed Saturday to myself although I shall be visiting a friend and Brother Mason who has been in hospital these last few weeks. It is a Corporal Work of Mercy to Visit the Sick but I would be doing so anyway as the chap is a friend of many years acquaintance.

So I wish you well, Bro Vicky. I doubt if we will meet up as I have no occasion to go to Northampton these days. I used to on business but that was about 15 years ago now.

All the best

Steve

Oh goodness!! I got the date a week early!

Thanks Pilgrim, I just checked our lodge calender......I can't wait another week!:crying:
By lauderdale - 05/06/2010 09:55:02
Calm down dear! as Michael Winner used to say. Why not have a nice quiet day as I intend to. Leave it all in the house, Rituals, Questions and Answers, POA etc and go out for a walk down by the River Nene or have a pub lunch? Chill out if you can.
By Sunburst - 05/06/2010 10:49:15
Thanks bro Lauderdale! I will be doing just that! :D

My head has been buzzing with all things Masonic for weeks now!

Hubby recently bought me a garden spa so I am going to get into that after I have walked Sirius!

Have a lovely day! h.g.w. Vicky
By sojourner - 05/06/2010 14:33:51
Dear Bro. Vicky,

Don't ever lose the excitement and love that you obviously have for Freemasonry. You get as excited as you like. Although you won't believe it, you can actually wait until the night of your second. The second is one of the most important Degrees in Freemasonry, although wrongly sometimes overlooked as "merely something you go through to get somewhaere else". Please let us know how it goes. I will raise a glass to your health at 9.0 O'clock on the correct date.

Best wishes.

By Sunburst - 05/06/2010 19:03:48
Thank you for your lovely, kind thoughts bro Roy!

I shall raise a glass with you too! next saturday, the 12th! :D

By lauderdale - 12/06/2010 14:28:32
Advice?  Calm down!

That apart I do hope it goes well for you Bro Vicky.

For my part I am having a much needed quiet day, but  will shortly be visiting a friend who is still in hospital.

I look forward to your account of today's proceeding in due time.

Brother Steve!! the ceremony was awesome!!! :D

Its hard to put into words what I feel, but I feel like I am glowing, if that makes any sense!

However, I could not stay for the FB as hubby wanted to watch the footy, but this really did not get to me as I am far too filled with awe and wonder to eat!!! It really was a very beautiful ceremony!

Indeed it is the Ceremony which counts and I am very glad it went well for you. You can always eat at home, as no doubt you are doing, and watch the football too.  I understand it is a 1-1- draw so far with about 4 minutes of standard time and I suppose the usual five minutes of stoppage time to go.

Postcript. Ended up as a 1-1- draw. Not as good a start as I would have hoped for against the USA. I do hope that England can do better against Algeria and Slovenia when they meet them.

I am still on a high this morning, and plan a day of careful study of my new book!
