Totally Cool! My mom was with the Rainbow girls when young. She has asked to petition the co-masonic lodge I belong to. She is definately a woman of her own mind. I'm not surprised. :exclamationmark: She has her interviews Saturday. This is going to be interesting seeing her go through the same processes I just did. I'm proud of her...as always. :smooooth:

Thanks all. I can tell she's getting a little nervous. I'll have to give her a phone call this afternoon, then a short visit tonight. It is 1/2 the distance she is used to traveling to get to her place in TN, so I know she'll be OK. It' s 4 hours, but a straight shot mostly on freeways and limited access highways.

Brother Mum! Brother Mother! Oh, great, at last, in a few years, someone will be able to say "Worshipful Mother" without being wrong! :satisfied:

Too true Bro Roy! Now ironically in most UK LDH Lodges all Brethren are referred to as Brother although I do know of one where "Sister" is used for lady members. Personally I do not like this and I call all Masons male or female "Brother" .

Too funny,... I called her at around sunset...She was on her way back and had made it there about an hour ahead of schedule despite the snow. Unlike Ohio, Northern Ohio and Michigan know how to handle snow...as well as drive in it. She enjoyed meeting everyone as was well enjoyed the conversations today. Perhaps before long, she will be on here too.....I updated her computer and copied all my Favorites to it....I pointed out the Masonic folder to her and the separate folder for the message boards. She may or may not log in, but she may be cruising through. Goodnight all....2 am and I just got home from a historical event...Holiday lights in an 18th century village...too cool I don't assist with any of the buildings, but thoroughly enjoyed being part of the 'scenery' a fellow walking his dog for the evening...It is kind of nice being able to cross-dress on 20 degree nights with snow...wool breeches, leggings and heavy coats are the bee's knees :w00t:

It felt a little odd hearing her applicationread in lodge. Sort of like looking into mom's purse....even with permission, it just feel odd... I had to smile though at some of her answers. Totally truthful, and totally my mom.

Yep, it is definitely like looking into mom's purse...even with permission, it feels odd. The petition was read again at meeting, and then a vote was taken. She is one of our two new candidates for initiation. Initiation is tentatively scheduled for March 21 I will still be sitting in the North till after I’m passed. (April?)

That is great news Daralee. I would love for my own mum to join too but alas her age and health and other considerations means it's hardly likely to happen in this life time. However, she remains very interested in Freemasonry.

Hello.
I didn't realize you were on this board.
Welcome.
I've been away a bit as I don't have regular internet access.
My knee is healing well. I just have to get more mobility in it so I can go back on full duty.
My mom is getting very excited and a bit nervous.
I keep reminding her that I'll be right there in the room with her.

Yes, they let me in occasionally :) I was a member of the old forum, in fact, that was the first Masonic forum I every joined, this was back in 2004 and I am grateful to both Mikes and others for putting up with me. I have learned much from that place and hope to continue to learn from this new, improved one, as well. Glad to hear your knee is better:)

Well, here it is.....so many months later. My mother was initiated after some other lodge business including me giving greetings for the first time from another member from another lodge and my own examination. I thoroughly enjoyed watching and participating (as much as I was able from the N) It was like I was going through the initiation myself all over again. I guess that is normal. Odd thing is that though it was my mother, she was at that point just one of the two candidates ready to take their first steps. Yes, she was still my mom....but she was also this other person about to be my brother....interesting and joyful experience for me. I am very glad now that my examination was this month and not last. I was a bit flustered at the last and I sort of flubbed on the final motions in the start of the closing ceremonies....it was because I was still thinking on all that preceded. I was a bit distracted by my own thoughts....wonderfully so. If you've never witnessed an initiation after your own, I highly recommend it. It is quite invigorating.
